Skyrace Comapedrosa will remain a World Series event, while the Youth World Championships will include both VK and SKY competitions
The 2019 Skyrace Comapedrosa promises to be a skyrunning festival, as in addition to today's top runners.
Skyrace Comapedrosa, which will remain a World Series event, is scheduled for Sunday 28 July.
The solid organisation of the bid presented by La Massana and the Andorran Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (FAM), the impressive scenery of the Comapedrosa valleys and the proximity to Andorra's services led the International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) to name Andorra the site of the Youth World Championships.
The race consists of two long climbs along highly technical high mountain terrain. The first climb tops off at an altitude of 2,600 metres, while the apex of the second is the ceiling of Andorra, Comapedrosa, at a height of 2,972 metres. This will be the ideal setting to experience the essence of skyrunning, with stunning panoramic views of the Comapedrosa Valleys National Park and other spectacular scenery.
The event programme will also include Skyrace Arinsal, which will take anyone looking for an initial experience in the world of skyrunning to high-lying mountain areas.
Skyrace Comapedrosa will once again turn La Massana and Andorra, a country that has become firmly enshrined as an organiser of sporting events with high international impact, into the world capital of mountain sports.
