THE RACES

ULTRA COMAPEDROSA

Ultra Comapedrosa offers 50 km and +3,800 m of elevation gain, with a spectacular route through the surroundings of Arinsal and the peaks, ridges and forests of the Valls del Comapedrosa Communal Natural Park. A tough race that will make the fans of challenges enjoy to the fullest and that, obviously, will lead them to step on the highest summit of Andorra.

Its first part runs along the 21 km Skyrace route, leaving Arinsal, going up to Pic de les Fonts (2,749 m), descending to the Refugi del Pla de l’Estany, ascending to Pic del Comapedrosa (2,942 m) and arriving at the Comapedrosa Refuge, after passing through the Estany Negre. From here the new route begins, going up the Portella de Sanfons and the Pic del Port Vell (2,655 m), continuing towards the Cap de l’Ovella (2,541 m) and descending to the Coll de la Botella through the Port de Cabús and the Borders of Setúria. From here, return to Pic del Port Vell and Refugi de Comapedrosa, with the final descent to the finish line in Arinsal.

 
 

XTERRA COMAPEDROSA marathon

A race for European Championship glory and a place on the starting line at the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship. The XTERRA Comapedrosa Marathon features 3,322 metres of elevation gain, with those able to conquer the trail fastest in their division crowned as the 2024 XTERRA European Trail Run Full Marathon Champion. The top 3 overall male and female performances will earn their share of the €2,000 prize purse, while 116 slots will be awarded to top age division runners to line up with the world’s best at the 2024 XTERRA Trail Run World Championship in Maine, USA.

This circuit will offer a marathon distance based on the classic route of the Skyrace Comapedrosa, adding kilometers and elevation for the most daring athletes, approaching the Coll de la Botella and the Alt de la Capa. This test will be XTERRA European Trail Run Championship Marathon distance.

The cash prizes of the XTERRA European Championship are as follows:

Marathon Distance: Total €4,000 euros

  • 1st Male & Female: €1,000 euros
  • 2nd Male & Female: €600 euros
  • 3rd Male & Female: €400 euros

xterra COMAPEDROSA vertical

A spectacular route through the surroundings of Arinsal and the peaks, ridges and forests of the Communal Natural Park of the Comapedrosa Valleys. A demanding test that will make lovers of this type of test enjoy themselves to the fullest and that, obviously, will lead them to crown the roof of the Country of the Pyrenees, at 2,953 altitude where the goal will be located.
Starting in the town of Arinsal, the route enters the Comapderosa Natural Park in a westerly direction following the course of the Pallas and Comapderosa rivers. After passing the Collet de Comapedrosa (km4.5) very close to the Comapedrosa Refuge, continue out of the forest until km6 where the itinerary turns north through stony and vertical terrain in some sections, until reaching the top of Comapedrosa (2,943m). ) where we will find the goal.

xerra COMAPEDROSA SKYRACE

The second of 2 championship races of the festival. The XTERRA Skyrace Comapedrosa will serve as part of the 2024 XTERRA European Trail Run Championship, crowning the fastest age division finishers of the 24K trail with 2,375 metres of elevation gain as the 2024 XTERRA European Trail Run Half Marathon Champions. The top 3 overall male and female performances will earn their share of the €600 prize purse, while 116 slots will be awarded to top age division runners to line up with the world’s best at the 2024 XTERRA Trail Run World Championship in Maine, USA.

The first section of the race gets through a paved road that reaches a very steep trail that runs through a wooded area, from this point the runners will find a high-altitude ridge with scarce vegetation, until reaching the Pic de les Fonts (2748 m). At this point they will descend to the Pla de l’Estany where we find a little hut. This is a lost valley amid the majestic Andorran mountains, from this point begins a beautiful climb, a true vertical wall over 1000 m of positive gain in about 2 km away without marked trail that will take us to the summit of Comapedrosa (2.942 m). The descent is for the traditional route through the Estany Negre and the Comapedrosa hut, until reaching back Arinsal.

xterra ARINSAL SKYRACE

The Skyrace Arinsal is a 18,6 km mountain race with 1,456 metres of positive elevation gain.

The first section of the race gets through a paved road that reaches a very steep trail that runs through a wooded area, from this point the runners will find a high-altitude ridge with scarce vegetation, until reaching the Pic de les Fonts (2748 m). At this point you will descend to the Pla de l’Estany where you will find a small border, this is a valley lost in the middle of the Andorran mountains, from this point unlike the Skyrace Comapedrosa we deviate towards the edge of the Agunes where We shared the final stretch to Arinsal.
