Ultra Comapedrosa offers 50 km and +3,800 m of elevation gain, with a spectacular route through the surroundings of Arinsal and the peaks, ridges and forests of the Valls del Comapedrosa Communal Natural Park. A tough race that will make the fans of challenges enjoy to the fullest and that, obviously, will lead them to step on the highest summit of Andorra.
Its first part runs along the 21 km Skyrace route, leaving Arinsal, going up to Pic de les Fonts (2,749 m), descending to the Refugi del Pla de l’Estany, ascending to Pic del Comapedrosa (2,942 m) and arriving at the Comapedrosa Refuge, after passing through the Estany Negre. From here the new route begins, going up the Portella de Sanfons and the Pic del Port Vell (2,655 m), continuing towards the Cap de l’Ovella (2,541 m) and descending to the Coll de la Botella through the Port de Cabús and the Borders of Setúria. From here, return to Pic del Port Vell and Refugi de Comapedrosa, with the final descent to the finish line in Arinsal.
The most alpine test of the event, marked by two demanding climbs, the passage through the Comapedrosa and two very technical descents, with spectacular forests and views that will take your breath away. A consecrated race, which has seen the main names of this sport participate throughout its history and which each year appears in the most outstanding national and international circuits.
This race is part of the CAMP BASE TRAIL RUN SERIES circuit.
The first section of the race gets through a paved road that reaches a very steep trail that runs through a wooded area, from this point the runners will find a high-altitude ridge with scarce vegetation, until reaching the Pic de les Fonts (2748 m). At this point they will descend to the Pla de l’Estany where we find a little hut. This is a lost valley amid the majestic Andorran mountains, from this point begins a beautiful climb, a true vertical wall over 1000 m of positive gain in about 2 km away without marked trail that will take us to the summit of Comapedrosa (2.942 m). The descent is for the traditional route through the Estany Negre and the Comapedrosa hut, until reaching back Arinsal.
The Skyrace Arinsal is a 18,6 km mountain race with 1,456 metres of positive elevation gain.
